»Why do you wake me now, o sweetest breath of spring?«
Ah! Non mi ridestar! aria from the opera Werther by Jules Massenet

Ridestar begins with a picture that is reminiscent of a wild and empty landscape. The camera scans in detail over the body of a horse. To the soundtrack of Beniamino Gigli singing the aria Ah! Non mi ridestar! from Jules Massenet’s opera Werther, Hannaleena Heiska develops an almost painterly film about grand emotion and unrequited love.
