Symposium Niki de Saint Phalle

Dr. Jutta Brückner

The well-known film director and author Dr. Jutta Brückner will be one of the speakers at the symposium held as part of the Niki de Saint Phalle exhibition.

Since December 2016, Museum Ostwall has been showing an extensive exhibition devoted to the artist. While the show itself focuses primarily on the work of the artist, the symposium under the principal themes of trauma, subject and body concepts, aims to broaden perspectives and establish connections to other positions represented by artists from film and the fine arts.

Based on papers by international gender, theatre, film and art experts such as Dr. Jutta Brückner (Berlin), Rosi Huhn (Paris), Dr. Beate Kemfert (Rüsselsheim) and Dr. Abigail Solomon-Godeau (Paris/Santa Barbara) as well as presenter Prof. Silke Wenk (Oldenburg/Berlin), different artistic positions will be presented and possible connections discussed.

A cooperation between IWFF Dortmund | Cologne and Museum Ostwall.

A programme of films compiled especially for the symposium will follow on thematically from the papers. The symposium and subsequent film programme are free of charge for participants.
