The Ritual is a contribution to the anthology entitled Pokolenie: izgubeni i namereni (Lost and Found). Six film-makers from six Eastern European countries tell six stories loosely based on the topic of generation. Animated film provides the framework and post-production work was carried out in Germany. Lost and Found premiered as the opening film of the Forum for New Cinema at the 55th Berlin International Film Festival in 2005. The Ritual will be shown at this year's Dortmund | Cologne International Women's Film Festival in tandem with Jasmila Žbanić's Birthday, another episode from Lost and Found.
NADEJDA KOSEVA was born 1974 in Sofia, Bulgaria. After graduating from the Bulgarian National Film and Television Academy, she directed the short fiction film The Ritual, part of the anthology film Lost and Found which premiered at the Berlin International Film Festival 2005. She produced the short fiction film Waltzes and Tangos from the Village of Whitewater which premiered at the Locarno International Film Festival 2007. Her contribution Omelette from the anthology film 15 can also be seen in the programme section Focus: Around the Balkans at this year's Dortmund | Cologne International Women's Film Festival.
