"Guys, there's some black guy in the garden? - Five whites from the West are on a reading holiday in Spain, when suddenly they receive a visit from the exhausted Ghanaian boat refugee who has settled in the garden.

An absurd situation; where does sympathy start and xenophobia stop, or vice versa? Do the "readers? become the representatives of Fortress Europe, or do they share their wealth? The apparently idyllic Mediterranean surroundings of the garden are changed for good from that moment on. The multicultural society has become a reality.

The director Margien Rogaar cooperated for Maybe Sweden with the Dutch actors group "Wunderbaum". The script was developed together during rehearsals.

MARGIEN ROGAAR, born in 1977, graduated from the "Netherlands Film and Television Academy" in Amsterdam. Since 2004 she has made a number of short films and documentations for Dutch television. Maybe Sweden is her feature-film directing debut.
