At the height of the stalinist ethnic cleansing operations by the Soviet Army in Yerivan: 1937, the year in which Nora Dabagian's father was arrested for political reasons.
Nora Martirosyan combines interviews with Nora, in her 70s, with reenacted scenes and juxtaposes these with newsreels from the period. 1937 is a reflection on remembering, and on the relationship between the individual and the collective memory.

NORA MARTIROSYAN was born in 1973 in Armenia. She studied at the Academy of Arts Eriwan, at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, at the Studio National des Arts Contemporains Le Fresnoy and at the Rijksakademie Amsterdam. Her video art was shown at numerous international Festivals.
